FAQ

What is Villa Villa Nola?
A website that sells recordings, built and run by some of the people
involved in making some of the recordings. Work began on this in
2007 in Montréal. The site was launched February 14, 2008. Since
then, a number of artists from all over have become involved.

Are there any legal issues having these Mp3s?
Nope. These recordings are owned by the people who are selling them
to you in this store. VVN releases are often exclusive to VVN. It’s
completely legal and we are happy for you to have these on your
computer, copy to a tape, CD, Mp3 player or to delete and we
thank you for it.

What audio formats are included in the download?
Stereo Mp3, encoded at 320kps. Packaged into a ZIP file.
FLAC versions of most VVN releases are also available (as of June
2008), also packed in a ZIP file. Certain releases are encoded
at 192kps but 320kps is offered whenever possible.

Can I get a release in {#@%^*} audio format?
We’ll try. We have to worry about file size and bandwidth.
Right now Mp3 and FLAC seem like the best choices for digital
downloads. If you’re really into a specific format, send an email to
contact@villavillanola.com and we’ll try to get you a copy of the
record you want, in that format.

What is a ZIP file?
A compressed folder - filled with a Villa Villa Nola Record Release.
There are Mp3s and cover art inside. You can use a number of
free programs to unzip this file.

Can I get a different kind of compressed package than ZIP?
Like RAR, TAR, or ZOO?

No problem, just email contact@villavillanola.com.

Something didn’t work right for some reason. What do I do?
Send an email to support@villavillanola.com and we can provide
you with a fresh link to the record you paid for or refund you
as needed, no problem.

Do you sell physical copies of these albums?
At this point we don’t do that. In the future, in order to distribute
physical copies of records, we’d most likely link somewhere else
or build a new store to do that.

Do you hate records & CDs? Are Mp3s better than physical copies?
We love vinyl records and our CDs and tapes from before. But we’re
also excited about the freedom to distribute music anywhere without
wasting everyone’s money, resources, and making junk when a lot of
people simply copy all their music to a computer and don’t want
more things. There are people who love music and recordings and are
not fans of Mp3s or digital music files in general. But many of us use
them all the time & have found this to be a pretty great way of distributing,
sharing, acquiring, storing, organizing, and listening to the music we like.
No big deal.

What are the origins of the name?
House of House of No Sound

Who made the artwork/programmed the site?
Brendan D Reed (Ex-EndlessForever) did most of that but as much
of the artwork changes at random every page you go to, we
incorporate other people’s work periodically, throughout the site.
Record cover art is done by all kinds of different people. Write to
contact@villavillanola.com to enquire about specifics.

Advertising on VVN?
We advertise with banners for stuff we’re involved in, friends, new
VVN releases, stuff we like or that comes our way & makes sense, fits
on the site. We are currently interested in trading banner space with other like
minded arts/music/info sites. Write to contact@villavillanola.com as you wish.

Do you take submissions for VVN releases?
Feel free to email us at submissions@villavillanola.com and we
can let you know the current situation.

I’d like to get involved. Do you need help?
There are a number of ways (artwork, time, coding, telling people
about this) in which we would appreciate help. If you have any
ideas feel free to contact us at contact@villavillanola.com & thanks.
