Toronto based Rockets Red Glare have been perfecting their distinct style of minimal bass-driven hardcore since 1999. Weaned on the suburban punk scene of the mid ’90′s, the members played in various fledging math rock units, including the f airly well documented Blake.

Having thrice toured Eastern Canada and inflitrated the U.S. for numerous campaigns, RRG released a limited pressing, 2 song 7″ on T.O. label Die!venom . They adhere fiercely to the rigorous standards they impose not only on themselves, but also on the vsurrounding independent music community. RRG have sought out new ways to find meaningful expression amidst a scene whose vital arteries have collapsed from its addiction to the transiet notion of ‘hip’.

Having drawn comparisons to angular postpunk of Mission of Burma, Shellac and Slint, their approach to style leans equally on the plodding dirgecore of bands like Neurosis and Cerberus Shoal. In every way, RRG attempt to control the infinitely subtle balance of tension and release while navigating through enormous columns of sound. Anchored by a rhythmic fulcrum of punishing drum patternsand jagged bass melodies, the pulse is blanketed underneath a dissonant fabric of guitar textures that trademarks their approach to form.

Their 7 song debut 2xLP/CD (vinyl on blueskiesturnblack, cd on Sickroom Records) is the culmination of 2 years spent practicing and touring, continually refining their sound in humid clubs and community spaces across North America. The result is a collection of songs that have grown organically over time and have preserved in a distilled state of clarity. Broad in scope, their songs evolve gradually to climatic points of hysteria.

RRG keep levels of prolonged intensity under strict rein, keeping in mind the ever present threat of complete derailment that comes with playing at extreme volumes.

Gus and Jeremy released a record under the name FEUERMUSIK.
Jeremy – Saxaphone
Gus – Buckets
